New Job in US Now employer can remotely verify your identity and employment eligibility

On November 1, 2023, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released a new version of Form I-9, which employers can use to remotely verify an employee’s identity and employment eligibility. Employers can use the DHS-authorized Alternative Procedure to remotely examine employees’ identity and work authorization documentation. Employers must refrain from discriminatory practices when using the Alternative Procedure. All other employees, whether onsite or in a hybrid role, must undergo a physical examination in person.
