Clear is planning a transformation in 2024, replacing traditional kiosks with new hardware that verifies identities based on facial images. The upgrade, called NextGen Identity+, aims to reduce the need for additional ID checks and improve efficiency. Members will need to bring a valid ID, such as a passport or driver’s license, to complete the switch to the new platform. Clear has collaborated with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on these upgrades. The whole process is estimated to take a few minutes, and members will receive an email confirmation once it’s finished. Clear suggests bringing a passport or REAL ID to avoid redoing the photo in 2025 when the REAL ID law goes into effect. Some airports have experienced longer wait times with Clear, but the new hardware aims to make the process faster and more seamless.
